The start of a new year means the beginning of a new season of Join The Future on Noods Radio. It’s our fifth season, which means in a few months time we’ll celebrate half a decade broadcasting the community-focused, Bristol-based station. Last month also marked five years since the release of the first edition of Join The Future: Bleep Techno and the Birth of British Bass Music on Velocity Press.
I thought I’d mark this personally momentous anniversary by offering up a fresh DJ mix – with some light chat reflecting on the JTF story to date and what you can expect from the project (and this website specifically) in 2025. Spoiler: lots more old and new writing and a few more mixes.
Musically, the mix showcased on the show flits between lesser-known original bleep cuts, revivalist 21st century bleep and acid house, obscure Chicago house from 1992, old and new tech-house (the good sort), deep house and some more deliciously dubby fare that defies easy categorisation. You can find a full track listing below.
