On Wednesday 23rd February 2022, Noods Radio in Bristol broadcast the first instalment in our two-part audio documentary on bassline history (the second will air on Wednesday 23rd March). This episode – the second of the second series of Join The Future on Noods – is now available to stream on demand. You can listen to it via the embedded audio player below, or head directly to the Noods Radio channel on Mixcloud.
Produced as part of Join The Future’s celebration of 25 years of bassline, and to coincide with Matt Anniss’s history of bassline essay in DJ magazine, this first part of the documentary focuses on the early years of bassline, briefly explaining the birth and growth of the ‘bassline house’ sound and scene in and around Yorkshire. Alongside historic tracks, you’ll also hear contributions from Niche resident DJ Shaun ‘Banger’ Scott, former IDJ Editor Russell Deeks, former Reflective Records label manager David Baker and Dean Loynes AKA Fat Fingers, the founder of – and resident DJ at – Boilerhouse in Bradford. You can find a list of the music tracks used in the episode below the embedded audio player.
You can find a full list of available episodes of Join The Future radio shows on our audio page and via our resident page on the Noods Radio website.
